List Of Genes in Order of Dominance:
A: Agouti Pattern (banded or "ticked" hair)
- Rabbit will have tan or white eye circles, triangle on the neck (not always visible in Lionhead), tan or white feet (depending on color), legs, inside of ears and a white belly.
- Exp: Chestnut, Chinchilla, Opal
at: Tan Pattern (Otter or Marten)
- Rabbit will be a solid color instead of the bands that an agouti has. Will still have a triangle at the nape of the neck, white or tan ears, feet, legs and a white belly.
- Exp: Black otter, Blue Otter, Lilac otter
a: Self Color (Non-agouti)
- Rabbit will be one solid color throughout.
- Black, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac
B: Black
- Rabbit will carry a black band in agoutis and in a solid it will have black fur.
- Black, Black Silver Marten, Black otter
b: Brown (Chocolate in Lionheads)
- Rabbit will carry a brown band in agoutis and will be a soild chocolate color in selfs.
- Chocolate, Chocolate Marten, lilac
C: Full Color
- Full color pigments. 4 dark, 3 light
- All Colors (but REW)
cchd: Chinchilla (Dark)
- 4 dark pigments and 1 light pigment.
- Chinchilla
cchl: Shaded
- 2 dark and no light pigment. Proper color will be a light sepia brown
- Sable Point, smoke pearl, Siamese sable, sable
ch: Himilayan/ Pointed White
- Rabbit will have "points" on nose, feet, ears and tail. Will have Ruby colored eyes.
- Himi
c: REW or Albino
- This gene is like white out. It covers up the true color. All pigments are blocked out.
- Eyes will be Ruby colored (What you see is actually the blood flowing through them)
D: Dense (full) coat color
- Color will be full/non altered. Eyes are going to be brown
- Black, Chocolate, Orange, Chestnut
d: Diluted color
- Creates a diluted version. Black is Blue, Chocolate is lilac, etc.
- Blue, Lilac, Fawn (Diluted version), Opal
Es: "Steel"
- Not normally associated with Lionheads
- In agouti middle band will darken along with all the other "agouti" type marks. Fur will be ticked white.
E: Normal Extension of the dark Pigment
- Allows normal extension of dark pigment (not wide banded)
- Black, Chestnut
e: Non Extension dark pigment
- Removes all or most dark pigments. Creates the "wide banded color rabbits". Leaves only the pigments orange, yellow or white.
- Tort, Orange, Sable Point, Red
The "Vienna" Gene
- VV: Normal extension of Color
- Vv: Can create white color Mismarks but not always.
- vv: A white rabbit with Blue eyes.
