Punnett Squares:

Things you must know in order to do a Punnett Square:
*Genes come in Pairs. One gene per trait from the Dam and one gene per trait from the sire. EX: Lets say mom is BB and Dad is bb. The baby would inherit B from mom and a b from dad making him Bb.
* Genes have a dominance pattern: Capital letters are more dominate than the lower case letters. (A is more dominant than a)
Now we can work on an actual Punnett square.
Lets use the B gene. Pretend the Sire carries Bb and the Dam carries Bb.

Notice that each parent contributed a gene.
So if B is Black (Dom.) and b is Brown (recessive) your offspring will have the chance of being:
75% Black and 25% brown.
You use a Punnett square on every gene you want to find out. Then you take the "genetic Sentence/Chromosome" and match it up with possible colors.
Or if you don't have the time is can be easier sometimes to use this genetic calculator. Just put in the gentic code for both parents and whala you get colors of expected babies! I LOVE this site.
